Dr. Joy Balta

Dr. Joy Y. Balta is a Clinical Assistant Professor and Director of Anatomical Labs & Body Donation Program at The Ohio State University, College of Medicine. He completed a BSc in Zoology from the Lebanese University (Beirut, Lebanon), an MSc in Human Anatomy from the University of Dundee (Scotland, United Kingdom), a PhD in Anatomical Education from University College Cork (Cork, Ireland) followed by an MA in Teaching and Learning in Higher Education from the same institution.

Dr. Balta has been teaching gross anatomy, embryology, neuroanatomy and histology since 2012. He has taught different cohorts of students such as medical, dental, physical/ occupational therapy, along with other undergraduate and graduate science students. Dr. Balta’s research Lab investigates innovative ways to utilize the donation of the human body for education and clinical training. Moreover, he has been interested in researching the application of the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning in anatomy teaching.
